SLIDESHOWS: Creation of “Confluence” Commisioned Public Art | Solo Show at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild
"Confluence"
Commissioned work for the H&R Block Corporate Headquarters,
Kansas City, Missouri
William Lobdell’s "Confluence", part of the permanent collection at the H & R Block World headquarters, is composed of not one, but three types of suspension bridges. That’s triple the awe factor. Lobdell assembled the sculpture from a thousand pieces of cedar, aspen and redwood, held together by bolts, wood glue and steel rods. One span recalls St. Louis’ Martin Luther King Bridge, the other Kansas City’s own Broadway Bridge. The H & R Block Collection was curated by consultant Paul Dorrell, who also owns Leopold Gallery in Brookside, MO.
